I set up a Gmail account and using firefox as a browser. I customized
I-Google as my home page with Gmail on it, it seems that I have to refresh the page to see if new E-mails have been sent to me. Is this the setup or am I doing something wrong?

It seems like its just a feed and you do need to refresh to see new emails unless your actually in Gmail. If you use Firefox, you could use what I use which is an extension called Gmail Manager. And essentially it can give you preview to emails, and show you how emails you have unread. Also works for multiple accounts.
This is exactly what you want if you want to see emails coming in with notices or sounds or alerts. -
OK, here is my problem, and I'm sure my lack of knowledge is to blame. I have been trying to get away from AOL (because everyone on these forums say it is terrible), but what I like about it is that while I'm viewing websites I can see e-mails as they come in. It appears that Gmail on firefox is not dynamic, and even if I have tab open for gmail but viewing a different tab I will not know when a new e-mail comes in. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Also when I tried to delete 4 e-mails on Gmail it took about 30 seconds, that never seems to happen on AOL>
