I am using windows ultimate 64bit
It does not happen all the time but sometimes when I click a link that is intended to open a new and smaller window, firefox stops responding. I even leave it for as long as 15 minutes and it's still unresponsive. I have to close the program and try it again, and normally that time it would work.
What can be the issue here?

Do you happen to have an example of any of these links? And what version of FF are you using?
-
I am using firefox 3.0.4
I put it on compatability settings to 'Windows XP SP2' and it 'seems' that the hanging has stopped.
Links would include anything with a pop up, like this page http://news.yahoo.com/election/2008 or www.newgrounds.com even opening a private message in a new window for NBR forums.
I will surely post again if the problems continue. -
Hmmm. Awkward. Glad the problem seems to have stopped. Mine certainly doesn't have that problem. Just out of curiosity, have you tried opening them in new tabs instead of windows?
-
With these pop ups, I don't think I can put it for tabs. Unless you know if there was an option somewhere for that?
-
Well, under Options>Tabs there's the option to open new pages in a new tab instead of window, but for some they still seem to open a window. On those, try Ctrl+Clicking on them.
-
there is another way to open a lot of stuff in tabs
right click an "open in new tab" (ratehr tedious)
and: click with the scrol wheel -

Firefox crashes whenever I open a pop up window
