Is it just me or is this not particularly stable?
Firefox lags like crazy on my 64bit Windows 7 install at times, but I have no problems with it on my 32 bit windows 7 laptop.
Any ideas? I really don't want to use IE, but its much more stable so far...

Performance issues such as lag don't have anything to say about stability. Stability comes into question when you have errors, crashing applications, or an unstable OS. Incidentally, I am running Windows 7 x64 and it is stable as a rock.

Your problem sounds like it's stemming from a specific application (Firefox), unless you've missed telling us some things and you're experiencing lag with apps across the board.

    Not made by Microsoft? :)

Anyone have IE equivalents of the Adblock Plus and/or Gmail Manager Firefox extensions?

I’ve found IE8 to be more stable than Firefox. Firefox does everything in one massive process, whereas IE8 splits browsing out into multiple iexplore.exe processes.

Beg to differ here. I use IE8, but main browser is FF for the moment, and it is solid and stable.

Many browsers are taking this process-splitting processes approach for future versions. Firefox has done a few runs in the past, abandoned it, and now is coming back to it again.

    cheers ...

Adblock, flash block, and scipts can be enabled by installing IE7Pro plugins for IE8.

I don't think there's a gmail manager extension for IE8. But there's live mail addon for sure.

I ran Windows 7 Ultimate RC 64bit before with Firefox 3.5.2.
I guess there is no problems. I can launch it smoothly and search the internet without errors.
The add-on I used was All-glass and Fasterfox lite.

Try disabling all add-ons, Java, Javascript, and clearing all your recent history/cookies/internet information.

Not sure what the problem is, perhaps addons, but with FF 3.5.2 and W7, I am able to load FB without any problems.

learn UI design and you would cry about the IE UI as it's terrible.

and love to watch your ads, love to copy your bookmarks from one pc to another, love how much the ui takes away in screenspace from your webpage you watch, love how you can't download a youtube movie or so just by clicking on it and save, love how you can't doubleclick on www.google.com when someone forgots to linkify a link in some post, love how you can't have all your ui buttons in one place as they thought "oh, cool, lets do some ui stuff now on the right"..

    and much more possible :)

Firefox only adds most of these features with addins, so it isn't a fair comparison.

    Learn Logic plz.

    @OP

What situations in Firefox is the performance unacceptable?

I am sure you can't do this in FF 3.5 without any add-on.
