Alright so i had a little tango with my firefox today, out of the blue, i was closing a tab using ctrl+w and then vista gives me the "firefox has stopped working" error. After a few seconds my entire computer locks up and nothing responds forcing me to use the power button to shut it down and do a full restart. After restarting, i open firefox, it says its installing updates and will start in a moment. 5 mins later it doesn't start and i try clicking on it, and i get another error from explorer. exe that says "application cannot be found"
so i end up reinstalling it, and everything works fine again.

Has this happened to anyone else? a random crash?

Try disabling all your addons and starting up Firefox.

Firefox crashes on my every few weeks or so. Mainly due to memory leaks though.

I'd say its an add on that's the problem.

Try to use as few as possible.

I also have had the Firefox has stopped working error. However, even reinstalling didn't fix the problem. I had to to start it in safe mode and, lo and behold, it was the add-ons. Once I uninstalled them, I was back in business. I then re-installed them one by one.
