Hey there
Bit of a dumb question but I've been searching google and can't find an answer to this.
I have Firefox 2 and it spell checks for me but it's set to American English and I live in the UK.
Does anyone here know how I can change the spell check language? I'm sick of seeing Americanised underlined in red!
I've had a look through the options in Firefox and can't see a relevant option (I tried changing the language but that doesn't appear to have done anything) and I can't see anything that looks relevant in about:config either.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice this.![]()

Hi.
Get FF3
uninstall the current dictionary from tools/addons on the toolbar in Firefox and reboot Firefox.
Then right-click in any text box, and i think add dictionary or something similar, then you will be taken to a website and you can download the correct one.

First of all upgrade to FF 3...FF 2 is no longer getting support
then here:

I had no idea that the dictionary could be disabled, not that I necessarily want to do so. Interesting post just the same.

Well I did upgrade to FF3, but then the ITV (television station here in the UK) "catch up" service didn't want to work.
It runs using M$ Silverlight and when I was using FF3 the site would just crash FF3, then I went back to using FF2 and all was well again.
I'll see if FF3 works any better this time around. The spelling is only a minor annoyance, I just wondered if there is an easy way to do it within FF2.
I've dl'd and installed the British dictionary from that link stewie just posted so I'll see if that does the trick once I've restarted FF2 before I install FF3...
Thanks for the tips so far though. -
The dictionaries and language packs I posted work for both FF2 and FF3.

You can always install the UK version of FF2 right here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

Ah I didn't know there was a UK version.
Americanised is still being underlined in red.
Either I did something wrong or it doesn't work by just installing new dictionaries and language packs. :?:
I'll try the UK version to see if it still does it...
