What could cause this? It definitely gets fixed if I set links that would open in a new window to open in new window, instead of a tab like I had it. Popups were working fine before... now they open in new tabs... hmmm. Any ideas?

I just tested a new Firefox profile and it works fine with that... maybe it's a recent extension I installed. Grr.

Oh, god, I would do anything to force popups open in new tabs. I hate windows. I love tabs. ;)

I would rather just block them all :(. Glad you got it figured out though de.1337. Very Odd.

Actually, I don't have it figured out. I want things that would open in a new window normally to open in a new tab. But, I want small popups, like a blog comment box, to open in a window like they regularly would, not in a new tab.

I just uninstalled it due to some conflicts with clearing private settings, but you probably want to take a look at the TabMixPlus add-on extension.

And Firefox does a good job of blocking pop-ups all by itself. Menu/Tools/Options/Content.

Are you really still running Firefox V2?

I actually tried out TMP a while ago, but wasn't too much a fan of it. I don't know, maybe I'll try it out again sometime.

    Anyway...

I found a fix! Here it is:
    http://www.1stbyte.com/2007/09/28/tell-firefox-to-show-popups-normally-and-not-in-a-new-tab/
I wonder if a recent extension changed this... I'll post if I find out.

You choose whether popups or new page opens default in tabs for Internet Explorer. I'm sure Firefox can do that as well.

Which browser are you referring to? On internet explorer 8, south park episode opens in a new tab because that's my default settting for opening a popup.

Maybe the fact that it's beta is the root of the problem.

Me? No. 3.x, but the fix works for that, too.
