Firefox doesn't rely on extensions. It offers them. Mozilla is purposely selective about what gets implemented into Firefox because they value customization. Plus, it is beneficial to them to "outsource" some of their feature development because it allows them to focus on the basics of the browser.
-
exactly it doesn't. i don't have any add-on to surf the net besides the flash and acrobat reader. if u consider those add-on's.. dude just pushing for opera like he gets paid to. haha
-
Maybe he does.
-
The addon system is the very reason I use Firefox.
Why on earth would I want a browser with everything but the kitchen sink built in when I can selectively add just what I require to a solid base browser? -
Careful there, you never know, the next iteration of IE just might include the kitchen sink (it seems it's already got most of the dirty dishes
).
-
Guys, this thread is about lack of security in Firefox, lest you forget.
Why does every browser thread somehow turn into Opera vs Firefox?
-
Gee, I wonder why...
-
Because it is a fact that Opera is much better than that lame firefox....
Opera has taken a backseat to firefox much too long... opera is definitely the better browser.
And once google stops funding the little pet project in order to hype their own pathetic browser, firefox is history. -
That is not even worth a lengthy response.
Oh really now?
Market Share:
- Firefox: 20.78%
- Opera: 0.71% -
if you read the actual article,
Users could be infected with the Trojan either from a drive-by download, which can infect a PC by exploiting a vulnerability in a browser, or by being duped into downloading it, Canja said.
Don't download anything stupid, and there shouldn't be a problem. And besides, we have anti-virus software for a reason.
There's isn't enough user-base in Opera yet, so hackers don't waste their time with Opera browsers. Hackers go where they think the money is. -
bad month for my Norton subscription to end

The concept of sarcasm, I take it you're not familiar with it?
Find a plugin for it.
This man speaks the truth! Bravo!

Opera fanboys sound like PS3 fanboys.
"2007 is the year of Opera!"
"2008 is the year of Opera!"
"Seriously, it's coming!"
"...not long now!" -
Glad it works for you
Again, glad that it works for you
???? Funny, the official and public opinion is such that many Google services do not bother to deal urgently with Opera, causing Opera devs to cry foul and Opera browser users to mask it as FF or IE often in order to use these services.
So I personally do not think that Opera would want FF to be history, as long as these issues with many Google services (and other sites) linger within Opera, be it "bad" codeing on either parties.
cheers ... -
Opera doesn't have that many users yet.
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp -
Very true, however those stats are only for W3Schools, not the entire web. In reality, IE actually has a much higher market share while all of the other browsers have much lower market share. Here are much more accurate stats (from NetApplications):
-
Like which?
Everything related to Google that I use (reader, documents, calender, mail, photos, maps and videos) works great for me, without masking it as "FF" or IE.
It's the official opinion of the "FF" users. -
Like I said earlier, I'm quite sure the IE fans are just kicking back, laughing their nether regions off watching the various anti-IE sects turning against each other.
-
That is if they can properly view this page considering their horrible browser.

Even the text-only version gets a little singed at the edges!
