See why I hate Firefox? coz nothing works!! I am trying but nothing works right from the first site I throw at it....
When I try accessing MSN Games here is what I get:
![]()
-
Hmmm...maybe click 'or you can add an exception'
Something tells me that might be the right answer. -
Uhhh, that is a safety feature.
Just click 'add an exception" -
Well if you actually try to play any of the games there you're in for more fun...
Last I checked they're all wrapped in an ActiveX wrapper so that they'll only play on IE. Go to Yahoo! Games, play the same games without the idiotic ActiveX wrapper, ??? , profit!
Edit: Just checked. It actually synthetically checks for IE and won't let you even browse the "free online" games with FF3, instead suggesting I "upgrade" to IE6. It'd be funny if it weren't so sad. Also, isn't this kind of crap precisely why Microsoft was sued by the US Government? Isn't this precisely why the EUC is always all over them? Do they just not get it, or what? -
I'm not that stupid d00d. I did that with no luck.......that's why I posted here....... let's see what else won't work........so far I like the speediness over IE. I'm a new Firefox user.
Everyone say after meh....... Firefox FTW -
Try IETab.
-
IE Tab Add On works on it.
That is why Firefox is great--you can find an add-on to do just about anything. -
just this one site and u blasted the whole browser? why dont u try to send a mail to the site and ask them to make it conformed to IE8 beta? yes IE8 beta, because this site of yours blasted IE8 beta out of the water as well.
IEtab within FF might not help u out either, if u still have IE8 beta installed on ur comp.
So if u want a decent experience in browsing, i recommend that u stick with official versions for now, let them be Opera, FF, IE or many good official others out there. And keep ur fingers away from the beta versions!
end my 2(u.s.) cents:
cheers ... -
when does ff3 officially release?
-
cheers ... -
The reason you get that message is, as it says, because the site uses an invalid certificate. That's pretty bad, especially from a Microsoft site. It means that the site isn't as secure as it pretends to be. And Firefox warns you about that. That's a good thing. It also allows you to add an exception if you want to visit it anyway. That is also a good thing.
In any case, as others have said, ActiveX is Microsoft-only. Microsoft have ensured that most of their websites simply can never be viewed in non-IE browsers. Half of them use ActiveX, and the other halfd make custom browser checks, and redirects you to a "please upgrade" page if they detect you're using a different browser.
That is not Firefox's fault. It's Microsoft breaking every single standard on the internet, and getting away with it. It is *impossible* for other browsers to view that page.
If you really want to access this page, use IE. Or install the IE Tab or "View in IE" add-ins for Firefox.
Alternatively, play the same games on Yahoo Games, or any of the 200 other websites that offer them, and which have actually working websites.
Now, if you really want this problem solved, MSN Games has a nice little "feedback" link at the bottom. How about you *tell* them that their website is broken?

OK the MSN Games now works thanks to the IE Tab Plugin! FireFox FTW!
