Flash beta for a reason I suppose. Though I use the latest Flash beta and dev build of Chrome and have never received such a spike like that...or ever noticed.
-
I was half that a few times but I am not sure if that was really do to flash beta, or dev build of chrome.
-
could it be that you just streamed an hd video while browsing and that 1 gig represents that?

Well I had been watching a lot of youtube videos earlier, non in HD though, and streamed some Pandora. -
it could be caheing that in memory hence the 1gig
-
i just watched a couple of vids myself and saw the active google process go from 40meg to 162meg so im guessing it is that.
-
162MB != 1015 MB

This happened to me with the regular version of flash on google chrome. Completely fubar'd my netbook until I ended the process.
Have yet to see it again on my new machine though. -
i watched for less than 5min and it got me to 162mb
so if youve been watching stuff for an hour i can see it goin up to 1gig -
probably just the cache ... try delete all the cache cookies and see if the process still that high
