Hello I can't seem to find what caused this nor what can fix it, but it is really annoying. I have an hp 6500t notebook with vista 32 bit. I get this blinking black bar in text boxes in random places like the start menu search bar and other places. Hear is a couple of examples.... Any help or ideas would be appreciated..

Could it be a block cursor somehow being set on?

I think I had a fix for this once. Try changing your pointer? select "none" at first. See if that works.

In Keyboard - Set the cursor blink rate to "None." See if that works.

Still no luck. Thank you tho. I had not tried that yet. I really do not understand and I do not want to do anything drastic. It is really no big deal, but I do not like being able to not solve this problem. Everything runs fine, but if anyone has any other ideas please let me know because I am out of them.
