This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Flash in Windows

    I originally posted in here to ask for help with s little "Flash problem" - I seem to have stumbled across the reason, and solution.

    My problem was:
    Explorer would crash when opening a folder with Flash videos.
    Suggestion in this forum:
    Disable thumbnails - this does solve the problem - but isn't ideal.
    ffdshow did not help by the way.
    Neither die Gspot when looking for faulty codecs...

    Next problem - that got worse:
    BBC iplayer in Firefox would crash Firefox...
    Thus I turned to Internet Explorer... (worked)

    At this time I was using Adobe Flash 9.0.124 (9 something) - and this seems to have been the culprit.

    If anybody has problems with Flash running Flash player 9 I suggest he/she upgrades to Flash 10 or downgrades to version 8 or older (not necessarily a good idea though) as there seems to have been/be a bug in Flash player 9.
