Oh my god I hope this thread is in the right place, it is my very first post here (Hi! :hi2 :) and I don't want to start messing things up.

Ok here's the thing, I need your help on flashing my laptop (Samsung NP350V4C-S01CO), BIOS to an older (or equal) version and maybe a little of context will help on understanding why:

It all began when I tried to install Windows 8 in my laptop. According to some things I've read on the web Samsung is having some issues with that OS, specially booting issues, I wish I'd have read all of that before the installation.

After the installation was complete I noticed that, when I turned on my computer, Samsung logo was loaded, but nothing else... Just a black screen.
I wiped the disk and did a clean installation of Windows 7 but the results were the same.

Finally, pressing F10, I was able to get into the boot options and choose the HDD and then Windows loaded perfectly.

I was told that the problem seems to be the BIOS booting, and maybe it will be solved if I flash the BIOS, but that is another issue itself.

Normally you can download BIOS files from manufacturer's website and flash it with relatively no complications, but in this case manufacturer is American Megatrends Inc., whom in their own website state that, since they build components for a bunch of different sellers (like Samsung), they won't release any updates and the only way to get one is through the final seller.

I've managed to get two files that correspond to Samsung's BIOS update, those are called BIOSEC.rom and setup.exe. It is useless trying to update BIOS trough Samsung's Update software because it is already is its latest version, and I don't know exactly how to flash these files cause everything I've read about flashing a BIOS tells me that I need more files provided by the manufacturer.

So any help you can give me in this process will be very welcome and I apologize in advance for my rubbish english.

As far as the bios, you should on the original provided bios update utility have an option to download the bios. This download is a single file what will do a win flash. It may be the latest bios but it should allow you to open and re-flash the bios.

If not you need to get a dos bootable disk and place those other two file on it. That will allow you at a dos prompt to flash via command line.

lastly, if changing boot order allows system boot then there should be a way to change it permanently in bios so you need not go through the bios flash.

    Hello, thanks for your answer.

You're right, I was able to download one file that would do an win flash of the BIOS, however, since the current BIOS is newer/same, it wrist flash at all.

My main problem is that I don't know how to flash those two files that I got from the original BIOS update utility.

It is for command line only flash. You need to create a dos bootable disk with those two files on it and then do the flash by command line.

Thanks again, which commands should I use?, that's the thing.
However, I've installed Windows 8.1 with UEFI USB and now all those boot issues are gone

My suggestion then, so long as you are going to be Windows 8.1 and have no boot issues then leave well enough alone. If you are not familiar with command line usage flashing a bios is not the best way to start learning.
