In an attempt to clean up my desktop, i uninstalled/deleted alot of stuff. I have a VAIO desktop. Anyway, the only noticeable difference i'm having right now is a font change. Not a big deal but the font isn't that great looking. Question is, what caused this?

What software did you uninstall?
For example, maybe Sony has some special fonts, and if you uninstall certain VAIO theme/software, it might remove that font and go back to the system default font. Do you know what font did it change to now? -
Yeah, i uninstalled alot of the VAIO stuff since i never used it. Probably that, and i'm not really sure what font it is now, i only know between Times New Roman and Arial, and right now, it looks like Arial (although before i think it did too, but i can and do notice a difference). The font seems skinnier, like if the words were squished together, so it makes it a little harder to see. Seems i did delete a theme or something, cause i notice some changes while highlighting things like bookmarks and history on top of a webpage

If you have Vista, then the system default font is called Segoe UI, which is narrower than Arial. Segoe UI is not a bad font, but it's less readable without ClearType enabled. If you want to change system default font, follow this guide:

Actually this is about 4 years old, so it on Windows XP. If no solution, its ok, it's not very much of a problem, and soon, i'll be getting my laptop which i might be using more than my desktop now.

You can do the same with registry in XP, it's a lot easier than going through (Control Panel -> Display -> Appearance -> Advanced), cause this way you will have to change it for every item.
Code:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes
-
Not exactly sure how to do that...?
-
Start -> Run -> regedit
Then browse to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes
Then right-click on MS Shell Dlg and select Modify.
Now enter the font you want, make sure the name is correct, you can check the names in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. -
When does it take effect? I'm not noticing any changes.
-
Did you reboot?
-
Still doesn't seem to be any difference
-
Ok, another thing i noticed, dragging a window doesn't actually drag the window anymore, i just get a crude gray box outline instead.

Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced
Under Performance, click on the Settings button.
Under Visual Effects, you can change the settings there.
