Using one of the vista tweeks on my sager 2090 vista x64, i followed instructions to (using a batch file) defrag my boot files for faster booting. Everything went fine untill I opened up my Intel Turbo Memory Console and found readyboost unchecked. I checked it and restarted as required. After the restart it was unchecked again. It seems to simply be unable to use readyboost now that I did the bootfile defrag. A system restore did fix the issue, but I thought everyone looking into the weeks should beware of uncertain/uknown consequences and always have a backup plan.

ReadyBoost doesn't help much anyways.
-
Yeah, it only really does any good if your system is really low on memory.
-
Like running 512 MB with Vista... But who does that anyways?
-
I'm sure some people are, if it's possible.
-
Eitherway, its a good thing to be aware of incase sp1 or later updates improve intel turbo memory performance and suddenly users find themselves unable to enable it because they performed this tweek.
-
But it can be done. Just not recommended.

Does anyone know why this does this? You may say it does not do much but I noticed since my computer has had that done, it is overall slower then normal, now I can see why. I dont use system restore as it always causes me more trouble then anything whenever I use it lol, besides using recovery disks anyone know why it does this or a way to get it to work again?
-
I'm not sure the technical reasons. But just fyi you don't have to use recovery disks. If you have system restore enabled (it is enabled by default) just restore your computer to some point before you did the defrag.
-
NVM, after checking it and rebooting like 3 times, it is now checked and enabled again =), so try to reboot and check alot if anyone has this trouble! prevents from restore and recoverys!

Interesting, I did reboot a good amount of times and it didn't help so I'm not about to restart the whole process over again. Eitherway good to know.
