Drool...........
This is how I use my tablet. Just like this video. Except I have to hack together OneNote + Browser + Outlook to get this kind of functionality.
Except this concept video combines them all into one interface. I can't wait til Microsoft bust out one of these guys.

There are a couple of home brew foldable tablet designs using MIDs and one that uses a pair of OqO UMPCs. I think I once saw a pair of Zaurus 5000s linked up.
The home brews all look like the new layout that msft is showing. It also looks like they are using hardware from ViV or Archos with some interesting software.
If you really think about it, that kind of layout isn't all that hard to work up, expense aside. It would be tempting to do it with one machine and have the second screen be one of those new USB powered/connect jobbies. As always, the hardest things are screen readability, pen/touch/gui responsiveness, and battery life.
But having a pair of independent, but linked machines does a lot for reliably and flexibility. -
I think the hardest part about making a machine like that is the SOFTWARE.
True, most of that hardware exists. But an interface like that doesn't -

i actually don't like that software. too much "oldstyle notes taking". i'm a computer guy, i like to use my computer without thinking the old precomputer way. i don't have to "swap pages" and such, as it doesn't really make sense.
but of course, depends on the user type -

not if i have to lose my keyboard, then... else, hm.. yeah, why not?
i'd love to have "just screens", that i could take with me. with usb3, this could get widespread reality. just plug in a second screen as you need it..
power might be an issue. but for dj-gigs, it would be awesome to take a 24" flat multitouch screen with me, just plug it in, and use it. (if it would be powered by the laptop, it would be perfect)

The UI looks a bit complicated(as it's not too well explained in the video), but it does look really nice
Wonder how much one of those things would cost -
Two screens.
It's gonna cost quite a big from what I imagine. Considering a good tablet PC costs about $1300, I would say this thing would easily be $2K.
When something like this shows up, I'm gonna be all over it. Like a fat kid loves cake. -
This belongs over at Tablet PC review!
Very fragile piece of kit, would love to own one (one day) -
