I followed this post:

Worked fine. That post with this thread. Clean installation took maybe 15 minutes. No lie. Maybe because of the specs in my system but still, I hear USB is much faster than DVD installations.

was anyone able to get "64-bit Installation Block" from customer service as told to do here:

Worked great, thanks.

I did the it yesterday, and I got an ISO, but PowerISO says that it is a non-bootable image. Does it say the same for everyone?
-
Try ImgBurn instead. I followed these steps and it worked like a charm.

My wife is trying to just get the download link. She goes to site for .edu email verification, it says she is approved but doesn't get the confirmation email. She can't really do any of the troubleshooting because of her school email system (no contacts list and no way to 'unblock' certain sites)and the 2 IT techs she has talked to says there shouldn't be an issue and haven't had other students complain. Re-entering her email addy tells her she is already registered. Any ideas?

I have the files, and I have created the .ISO file, but my university is taking it's time to get me registered on MSDNAA.
Can I install this, and when they're done, put the activation information later on, within a week or so? Or do I have to wait for my uni to give me the details?

Aren't Microsoft suppose to send you the discs as well for the student upgrade program and would those work when you try to do a clean install?

i have installed it, i downloaded from the links floating around for those 3 files, and then i extracted the files from them, and then i made an .iso file. but my programme director is still taking her time for giving me my MSDNAA credentials. :/
i hope she does it in the next few days. -
I think they changed the files?
I just checked in to download my files and here's what downloaded...
DLMWin7Pro64US.exe and it's only 347kb
no big deal though, I used v3loc1ty2.0's links. -
And when it is, you can make an ISO image using my guide!
All the best,
Benjamin. -
what is your problem exactly?

I used this method to successfully create a disk and install windows 7 on my Notebook. However, when I went to open up my C: Drive I noticed I only have 90 GB left in a 250 GB hard drive. This did not make sense because I wiped out my old Vista partition (I left the dell media player partition as it was). What I found was I have a folder that is called old windows or something and It basically has everything thing from my computer in it. Is there a way I can make the CD so that Windows 7 installs and completely wipes everything out?

I like the Windows.old folder, it is helpful!
-
whats the difference between these two commands?
oscdimg.exe -u2 -bC:\expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com -h C:\expandedSetup C:\WIN7.ISO
oscdimg.exe -bC:\expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com -u2 -h -m -lWIN_EN_DVD C:\expandedSetup\ C:\Win7.iso -
Basically nothing except that the second one adds a LABEL to the ISO so that when a disk is burned from the ISO the disk will have a label "WIN_EN_DVD" instead of no label.
-
-
i did the one without the label, guess it doesnt matter if the disc has a label or not. -
isnt this like the most important thread in this forum or what?
-
thanks! i thought it would have been made into a sticky!
