Guys, I'm new here and I am eager to find out what's this error (recovery.DAT)

I tried formatting my vista to windows 7 for 3 times. It all ended up with a BIG RED "ERROR" on a white screen. I try to boot it from restart and follow the steps and finally it says completed then comes to the white screen with error. I can't do anything since it has nothing to click on and I couldn't use ctrl alt delete either.

Can someone tell me what's the problem.

Note: I bought this laptop last year and it comes with pre-installed vista.

Is this the reason I cant format it to windows 7?

I also need to use the recovery CD and the genuine vista CD to change it back to wondows vista...
