I'm going to get a new laptop, and was wondering if I can format this laptop and remove all junk and stuff -- and give it to a family member.

It's a TOSHIBA Satellite A200, operation system: Windows Vista Home Premium. I lost the boot disc and do not own a vista recovery whatever it is. So no CD's...

I was wondering if I format it, will there still be a "My Computer"? I do not want to format the operating system.. just want it how I got it. With all the starter programs like "Toshiba Assist" and all that.. was worried if they will get deleted too. That's all.

If it's not possible to get it with all the default programs, then just a C hard drive format will be fine.

    Thanks

you wouldn't be "formatting" it, if you did a restore. If you did a toshiba factory restore, it should be restored to the same way you had it when you first powered it on. All the items on C:\ that you added after will be removed.
