When i try to record in games the game is pretty much unplayble. If i set the fps at 30 in fraps the game caps at 30 as well which i really cant play like that. The game im trying atm is CoD4 which as you can understand low fps = bad aiming.
At the moment my settings while recording are, game is set at 1680x1050 and fraps is set to half size @ 50 or 60 fps with no AA (since i as said if i choose 30 i cant really aim properly) and tried "saving" the file on another hdd as well with no success. The problem is basically that even if i set it at 50 fps, cod4 is usually around 30-50 but the game just stutters all the time so its impossible to aim, not sure if its a hdd bottleneck issue (both of them are 7200rpm).
Since i find a lot of game videos in youtube and other services of people that recorded games using fraps on high resolutions im trying to see if im missing something.
Thanks in advance![]()

So your saying that T9600 and 3870 on crossfire is not enough ?

No worries
I know its possible to record using the /record command on Cod and then just playback the replay and record it with fraps, but since ive got the same problem with all the games which have no /record capabilities like world of warcraft, im trying to see if theres a solutions to this

I have the same problem too. When I try to record any videos, my frames drop with 10-5. I have also T9600 but with 9800M GTX

Fraps is not killing your video cards, thats the strong part of your system.
Its killing your cpu & hard drive, and those parts are weak.
Get a high clocked quad core and record the video to a 2nd hard drive and you will be in business.
My system can go quite low while recording sometimes with a 3.6ghz quad and a 2nd hdd on my desktop, I just use the 30fps setting even though it limits to 30fps thats the optimal speed for the video makes editing and working with it easier/better and takes less space (and its already huge) if you have a good computer it will stay at or near 30fps and thats a playable frame rate. -
Yea read that a lot of people use the 30 fps option but seriously i dont get how they manage that
I feel like the game is too "laggy" at 30 fps.
Waiting for my SSD so i will find out if its the HDD or not. If not i guess it must be a CPU bottleneck -
I think that expect from the HDD you should change the CPU to but lets first see what will happen with the SSD.

Is there a program that can log the maximum CPU usage ? Something similar to HWMonitor but basically just to check if the cpu actually goes to 100% usage when recording ? Since if i minimize the game the usage is not going to be the same.
