AVG Free is what I use.

same here.

Avast! is free too...the pro version is not, but the free version is great from what I hear! And the UI is very solid.

If you like you can try e-trust: http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/

thanks all, that's great, looks like AVG Free is the one

Yup, AVG Free is really good
.

Yeah I use AVG free. One thing I really like about it is the free email scanner.

Avast baby~!
I've read nothing but good stuff about AVG from this site, so give that shot too. -
I've been using Avast! here for the past couple of years as well. Used AVG before that, but I like some of the features of Avast better. If I recall correctly, I think the reason I switched was because AVG did not have an auto update feature at the time, though it does now. I may have to give it a spin again to see how/if it's improved.

I like avast over AVG, but it is personal matter

avg doesnt scan very thoroughly. sometimes it cant pick up some mess here and there. firewall and spyware removal softwares are a must combination. well if youre after a free virus software, avg is the one. its so popular but no support provided.

Do any of the anti virus programs you guys mentioned use a lot of resources?
