I tried all the download manager add-ons for FF, and hated them all. I had used Internet Download Manager, but it's not free-ware and I found that it always managed to break something on my PC.

FDM has all the features of IDM, but it's free! I even find it to be superior. If you want to download any videos in your web browser, when you move your cursor over the video, you get a little button open near the video that allows you to download it with FDM. This implementation is superior to IDM's where their button is always visible.

Version 3.5 is still in RC form, but I've been using it for months now with no bugs or anything.

You can read about it here: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/...1&t=15061&start=0]www.freedownloadmanager.org
And here's the direct link to the download: http://files2.freedownloadmanager.org/fdm35inst.exe

Oh and a tip, use the classic theme for it. I find it to be a lot sleeker than their newer theme.

Jdownloader works too and is better imo... aside from accelerating the download it also can download from web sites such as megauploads,mediafire,rapidshare,megashares..etc without you having to be present
