I thought would be good to start a thread about different free email providers such as MSN, Yahoo, Gmail, Opera mail, ect.
My first email provider was MSN. I have been using MSN for about 2 yrs a now.
I thought it was an OK email service. But then I decided to get a yahoo email account. I've been using that for about 3 months now and I actually like it more than MSN. Why? Because with MSN lot's and lot's of spam gets through. Everyday I get like 11 spam emails. And if I don't do anything it just piles up.
With yahoo I haven't had any spam get through. And I also like the interface more than MSN.

I haven't used gmail or opera. Because yahoo seems just fine for me.

I use a combo of Gmail, Y! Mail, and Mailinator. If it's friend related, I use Gmail, if it's business, I use Y!, if it's spam, Mailinator.

Edit: I couldn't resist - needless to say, my Gmail account is empty.

    I keed, I keed.

Don't worry, pretty much all of them will end with spam after a while - however as Lithus noted, depending on how you use it. I have a Yahoo address that is over 10 years old and the spam folder is crocked full each day as well as the inbox. I don't even use it any longer but keep it as I have other services ties to it. My business domain is one year old and surprisingly pretty clean - we only get about 1-2 junk mails a month - and those are usually traceable to something we subscribed to in the past. Spam seems to find you eventually though....

Where else would it go? I though this had to be the correct place.

Ha, I didn't even read the subforum.

This should probably be moved to OS/Software. Help and Suggestions is definitely NOT the right place for this.

    Well currently Gmail FTW

Gmail is the ONLY free POP3 email account.

which means it can be used on Outlook express,2003,2007

    and Thunderbird.

    other accounts Cannot including MSN.

So i am currently using Gmail as Primary.

and i CLOSED down my stupid ISP provided POP3 account for which they used to charge me even for their Lame useless Spam filter. and Virus scan which was quite fine.

How many of u ...use Email Clients ?

or do u logon to sites for email?

I just go to yahoo.com to check my email.
However microsoft made an email client with windows vista specifically for hotmail. I think it's called windows live mail. Maybe something else.

Gmail for personal email using my personal domain, and Yahoo for all spam.

I also like the fact that I can sync my gmail calendar and contacts directly with my AT&T Tilt (OggSync).

Gmail, yahoo, mail.com are all good places. I like Mail.com because they have a boat load of domain names to choose from.

Yahoo, I have it since 1997, so almost 11 years. Almost spam free, except useless cc and chain mails from friends.. :)

my first email account was with Hotmail. But I would get junk mail even with a filter and the layout wasn't to my liking. Plus, I had to type in @hotmail.com to log in everytime. Then I switched over to yahoo mail back in 2005 and I've been using it every since. Very good service I might add.
