Is there any way to do IRC chat free. Can GAIM and Trillian do this job? Or any other option?

mIRC is the way to go. Trillian works as well...

If you don't mind the annoying pop up box, mIRC will work wether you register your copy or not. That's the nice part about mIRC -- they don't force you to pay the 20 bucks. It would be nice if you did though.

As far as I know, IRC needs registration after 1 month, I installed it, and it is written there. So it will fuction still after that period? If so, which features are lost after trial period?

I haven't used IRC in the past few months, but it use to be that when your trial period ran out, you would just get the pop up box reminding you to pay the registration fee. You didn't loose any features or anything after your trial period is up.

Unless they've recently changed it, its not like standard trial programs. Most programs will completely stop working after the trial period, but mIRC is completely 100% functional after the trial period.

I'm not suggesting to skip out on the registration fee. I was posting this information in case you can't pay the 20 dollars right away.
