Is there anyway in which I can reallocate the free space in that "extended partition" and make it into a primary partition?

I recommend using another program such as GParted. I myself use Paragon Partition Manager, but it is not free.

Or you can try right clicking on the Free Space and choose Format?

The fact that it's "extended" shouldn't matter; you can still format it to NTFS and give it a drive letter and start using it. That's really the easiest way to go. The only restriction is that you can't boot Windows off of an extended partition... Windows can still use it for storage though.

But if you really want to, you should be able to edit the extended partition to get rid of it... I don't know which programs let you do that though.
