    My question exactly. The only difference in the past between player and workstation was the ability to create VM's, so now that player can also do it, what's the point of paying for workstation?

    Without looking at the specifications, I'd guess enterprise features like being able to mass provision VMs etc

    I always thought the old VMWare players could create VMs. Maybe my memory fails me. The workstation editions have a lot of features I never play with. Like the Team features....
