    Hi!
After many many Norton Personal Firewall installations, it's just warned me that I have exceeded the maximum number of installations using that CD key.

Since the firewall is almost 3 years old now and not all the updates work right, is it possible to download a free firewall somewhere besides the windows firewall? I'm looking for something similar to avast antivirus but...a firewall :)

    Thanks

    Define good.

Seriously, you should not only look online for reviews but also know what exactly you expect a firewall program to do or at least educate yourself. From what I can see the goals of say something like Jetico are much different from the goals of Outpost. One is a true firewall while the other overlaps into antivirus, antispyware and antispam. This can be either a good or bad thing depending on what you want.

The only thing I read from several soruces about Kerios is that is quite easy for malware to disable it. Outside of that it does the job.

You can go to www.firewallleaktester.com for more info. Also Sunbelt Kerio is currently only available as a free trial/paid version, the free version of ZoneAlarm has vulnerabilities that the paid version doesn't, and there are a few different free firewalls, like Comodo worth looking into.

Just use the one built into XP and a good router.
