The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Free laptop from work is useless

    I got a free laptop from work but it is password protected and they won't give me the password, saying they don't support what they put on the free table! Any advice? I just want it to word process on. I got a free Operating system disk from Ubuntu, but i can't get past the password. thx edix

    It's not hacking since it was on our own free table at work, i think, just lazy IT people. they told me to wipe it using info on the web.

    It is against forum rules to discuss bypassing any sort of security measure. You will need to obtain the password from the correct people.
