remove (use Add/remove AND the norton removal tool).

You don't want two antivirus programs on a machine when both support real time monitoring.

Trying to install and run a new Antivirus while another one is still installed and running is pretty sure to result in Windows errors.

Nuke it. I'm trying out the newly released Comodo V3 in conjunction with Avast.

Uninstall norton and get some free antivirus or renew your norton subscription. There is no point in using an expired av as it doesn't update the virus definitions. You don't have to use 2 av's since they most will conflict with each other and will lead to unnecessary windows crashes.

AVG, Avast are some good free av programs.

Annihilate Norton and get avast. As suggested before use add and remove and the norton removal tool.

I gave up on the Comodo V3 and returned to using Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite.

Interestingly enough, in the fairly painful process of removing Comodo, which I was ultimately successful in accomplishing, I discovered that the Norton Uninstall Tool doe not completely remove everything. There are still some hidden non-PNP device drivers, inactive of course, that are listed and can be removed.

On Vista what good does a third party firewall really do, especially if you sit behing a newer SOHO router?

(Provided you have automatic updates on and some kind of malware protection.)
