Just wondering what is good. I can't find a free version of WinRAR, but I thought there was quite some time ago. Any advice on how to handle .RAR files?

7-Zip does a nice job of handling pretty much all archives. It's open-source as well.
Though it can't create .rar files, it can open them.
I'm pretty sure winRAR has an unlimited trial though, or at least it used to. -
I started using 7-Zip a month or two ago, and I love it so far. It can open all the important file formats (including .rar). It can generate .zip and 7zip files, and this might just be me, but it seems to extract files much faster than Winrar did.

Yeah I have Winrar. It is really just a never ending trial. After your 40 day trial period it will ask you to buy it every time you use it. However if you just close that little window that pops up everytime you can use it still.

i got a free older version of winrar a while back, they had a promotion where they gave free downloads (fully licensed) (forgot which version) on one day. But yeah as tim said, winrar is free and is never ending lol (just like winzip).
