Just wondering, that seems like a lot. I tried to reformat the partition I used for Vista, but I am not sure if I did this correctly. It never gave me the option for a quick or standard format (like in XP installation). In XP if you did a quick format it took about a minute, however the standard NTFS format took nearly an hour with 100 gigs. When I installed Vista it took very little time. Also, my bootloader now has two options: Vista and Previous OS. Previous OS does nothing when selected. Makes me think Vista may have saved some files from my previous XP installation and is hiding them somewhere.
Is 7 Gigs normal for a fresh Vista Ultimate install?
-
My Home Premium installation took up around that if not more, so you're alright. Not sure about the 'Previous OS' in the bootloader though.

Yeah, that's normal. Regarding the previous installation. Mare sure you don't have Windows.0 folder where you installed Vista. If you have it, delete it. Also, you can remove that option from the bootloader.

Where is the "show hidden files" option in vista...
-
You have to go to Control Panel.
-
I'm not sure about that number... my previous Vista installs have started at 15GB. But hey, look around.
-
A fresh ultimate install should take 15GB -
Be glad it's not more.

you can also pull up hidden files by opening a windows explorer and pressing alt... that pulls up the classic menus and you can go to folder options from there and reenable hidden files...
Fresh install of Vista supposed to take 7 gigs?
