I have downgraded from Vista to Window XP Pro and my sound is not working. I have a Compaq Presario C751NR. It originally came with Vista however I cannot use it for work. I HAVE to have XP. XP is up and running but need the sound to work. In my device manager I have yellow question marks beside the following:
1. audio device on high definition audio bus
2. ethernet controller
3. modem device on high definition audio bus
4. sm bus controller
5. unknown device
I have taken this laptop, which I bought yesteday, to a tech and he could not find the driver for sound (which is what he told me I needed). I dont really know what I am looking for or where to look. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

I believe it's the same audio driver on the dv6000t.

You just need to know what model and stuff and go directly to the manufacturer's website and get it straight from there.

Thank you LGS, I have been there already and the drivers were not available for XP. I have since installed the driver I needed for the sound and the modem but the others are still unknown.
From Vista to XP - need drivers
