    Hi All,

This is my first post here so please be gentle... :)

Anyway, I have purchased one of these laptops as after reading several reviews and seeing my friends 1554, I was quite impressed. The only downside was the flimsy plastic protection of the screen, but otherwise the overall laptop was excellent for a desktop replacement.

I have Vista Premium, but would prefer to have Windows XP installed as it is more robust and compatible with several codecs and media players that I use. The only game I really play is Pro Evolution Soccer 6 and this should run no problems.

I understand installing XP Professional is not quite straight forward, could someone please advise me how to do this? Looking at the Fujitsu website I can see that they dont quiet support it properly. Also will i be able to keep the raid 0 setup in XP.

Finally, through work I have access to Vista Ultimate, Enterprise or Business, would it be better to keep this OS as opposed to going back to XP, bearing in mind that playing videos, emulators and general multimedia is very important to me?

    Thanks for any help,

    wesker.

we r all a gentle bunch here at the forum ;)

dual boot them if u have disk space to spare

??????? accept all default configurations throwing at u during installation, u should not have any issue

    sure!

like mentioned above, dual boot them, u can determine for urself after an extended use of the OS and to decide upgrading or staying put. It is all depending on ur own needs.

    cheers ...

hey i have the xi 1554 myself...i havent set the raid settings...to be honest...setting the raid for performance i personally think is not really worth it...unless your looking for quicker loading times of games....there is a small risk to hard drive failure when setting raid...

as for installing xp professional....the only problem i can think of that will occur is the xp cd not detecting the hard drive when trying to install...i had that...but there is a solution its in the fujitsu forum as a sticky...you'll have to create your own xp cd slipstreamed with your hard drive drivers...

note to do that it you'll need sp2 version of xp....(i havent written that in the sticky)

im dual booting and getting the best out of both worlds....xp for gaming...and vista for multimedia and work...

when i did the installation i installed xp first then vista...because i found it easier...but if you look around there are some threads about installing xp if vista already installed

Your beast of a machine will have no trouble handling any version of Vista, and if you use the 32bit version of either Enterprise or Ultimate I understand the compatibility issues are very rapidly being resolved.

    Hey Sun Jhoon and others,

I have an Amilo Pro V3205. I bought it second hand but it came without the recovery CD although drivers CD is there. I am using my Windows XP CD to install Windows but it does not detect the hard drive as you mentioned. I can't find the solution you mentioned as a sticky in Fujitsu Forums. COuld you kindly send me the link. I am in big trouble and currently running the machine using a Linux CD. Thanks.
