As future hardware is released from Santa Rosa on forward (that takes advantage of some of the Vista features), will the drivers be available to use this newer hardware with Windows XP?

You'll have to dig around for XP drivers since Vista is being pushed everywhere.

Microsoft is trying hard to screw their customers. They will pressure the hardware companies to just make Vista drivers when possible.

historically speaking, hardware companies have continued to put out driver updates for old OS for about 3-5 years

That is true, but MS has not pushed this hard before. The Windows Games thing is disturbing me already. That DX10 is Vista only, and MS is trying hard to get game publishers to only use DX10.

Obvious some of the better companies will keep releasing drivers. For example, I would be suprised if NVidia or ATI suddenly stopped providing XP drivers for their new cards. But who knows.

I think you will be ok for a year or so, but I am just saying MS is pushing to get XP deprecated. So if they succeed you may loose support faster than in the past.

There might not be support for the minor devices such as card readers, webcams, or bluetooth. The main devices like graphics card, wifi, hard disk and so on will have support for a few more years.
