My new Alienware 18 has arrived and it came with Windows 8 Pro
So I removed the 2 WD Blacks in RAID 0 it came with and installed my Samsung SSDs.
Used the Microsoft downloader to download the latest build of Windows 8.1 Pro, installed all the Windows updates, no drivers or any software yet, when launching GPEDIT.MSC it would fail to start with some error message (I don't have that message on me now wish I saved it)
When I first installed Windows 8.1 Pro, the only changes I made were:
1) In Group Policy, I enabled "Prevent this computer from joining a Home Group"
2) Prevent the usage of "OneDrive" for file storage
3) Use OneDrive as the default location for saving files = DISABLED
Then I did all the Windows Updates, then GPEDIT won't start
anyone experienced this?
I then got frustrated as usual with Windows 8.1 and installed Windows 7 Pro
EDIT: After some research, I found the error code:
"Administrative Templates Resource ‘$(string.VerMgmtAuditModeEnable)’ referenced in attribute displayName could not be found. File: \contoso.local\SysVol\contoso.local\Policies\PolicyDefinitions\inetres.admx, line 1495, column 249"
