I'm using Firefox 6 with the integrated Intel HD GPU. I've just turned on hardware acceleration and I checked the about:support page to see if HA is enabled.
This is what it says:
Direct2D Enabled: Blocked for your graphics driver version.
DirectWrite Enabled: false (6.1.7601.17563)
GPU Accelerated Windows: 1/1 Direct3D 9
The Direct2d and DirectWrite I expected as HP hasn't updated the switchable drivers...ever. But I'm surprised to see GPU Accelerated Windows enabled. When I switch off HA, that switches to false/disabled. So I'm wondering, what exactly does GPU accelerated windows do/mean?

Isn't it just Aero Glass support?
-
I don't think so... as when I disable HA it also disabled the accelerated windows but Aero is still there.

Recent versions of the Intel HD graphics drivers have serious bugs in their full screen anti-alias (fsaa) routines. Just about any software maker who uses hardware accelleration in a serious way has decided to disable HA for a while until Intel gets their act together.
Aero is not affected by this. -
appropos this, Intel just released a pile of new HD drivers. No word of the fsaa bugs were ironed out or not.
For Win7, I believe that the most current approved/released by intel version for GMA HD is v8.15.10.2476 -
I don't see it on the Intel Download section for the Intel HD graphics.
Can you post the link? -
The latest is .2361 on intel's driver section.
I can only see .2476 on unofficial driver sites like Station-drivers?
EDIT: When downloading from station-drivers it points to intel website, so they are legitimate. In readme it also says it's for mobile chipsets :s How come it's not in the drivers section?
EDIT 2: I installed the drivers, since readme also included mobile processors. Installed just fine, no problems.
