Have an Acer V7 with a GeForce 750M GPU in addition to the onboard Intel HD 4000 that Haswell CPUs provide. Owned for about 9 months now, nvidia optimus has done a good job switching between integrated graphics and GPU when needed for at least 6 months. Today, I just noticed that the 750m was not kicking in while running games.

Tried to update nvidia drivers after uninstalling them, but the install package did not recognize any hardware. Checked device manager, the 750m was hidden (greyed out) under display adapters. Ran CPU-Z and only the integrated GPU was detected. Checked the BIOS for PCI options, couldn't find any. Then I uninstalled the 750m through device manager (at the suggestion of the internet...) and it disappeared. Didn't reappear after a reboot, and trying to install the driver package did nothing. The 750m drivers on Acer's website are just an old version of what you can get off the nvidia website.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't know when exactly it stopped working, so I don't know what date I would system restore from. Can still try.

    Thanks in advance!

Try uninstalling the drivers for the integrated GPU and do a restart. Also, you might have to "force" the 750m driver installation through the legacy method. And, as much as it hurts to imagine, maybe your 750m is not responding due to a physical malfunction (not software). Let us know the progress!
