    GaRdaMit!!!! o&o wont install on 64 bit vista

    so i downloaded the trial version of o&o defrag pro for my 64 bit vista and when i try to install it, it gives me error that says:

    R U KIDDING ME?!!! IM RUNNING VISTA 64 FYI!!!


    now i tried using the "run in compatibility with xp sp2" trick and still gives me the same error. also tried the "run as administrator" and still unsuccessful..jeesh....any1 know a workaround on this? thanks

    o&o isnt compatible with vista 64bit. i ran into the same situation. Time to find another defrag program, which sucks cause I kinda like O&O. But I just went back to PerfectDisk.

    bahhh......and on their website it says "supports xp,vista ALL EDITIONS" i guess they meant home,ultimate and such...

    anways, tell me about perfectdisk...hows it par with o&o?

    I actually used perfectdisk before I tried O&O and to be quite honest, it works pretty much exactly like O&O. You can set the kind of defrag you want (ie Stealth, Space, etc although it uses different naming of course), boot time defrag, screen saver, etc. Its all there. Its also remarkably light on resources and seems to be on par speedwise, if not a bit faster. I think you'll be pleased with it.

    The reason it does not install is since you have to download the x64 version from them.

    a really good defrag program with native 64 bit support is puran defrag 5.0 seriously a really fast and tiny application and imo it does the same job as perfect disk. ive ran perfect disk many times after running puran and it always shows the same results as 0% fragmented and even usually has most files in the same order.. works great
