Hello all, I've played a couple games on Windows 7 (RC) and noticed one of them has a minor issue. I thought about starting a thread in which people list which games have issues. I'll get the ball rolling with Mirror's Edge:

    Civilization 4
    • The splash screen doesn't draw correctly when loading. As soon as it gets into the game, everything's peachy. Oh... make sure you install DX9 when you install it, though. It gets unhappy if it can't find that... seems silly to me that Windows 7 includes DX10 & 10.1, but not 9 or any kind of compatibility for that.

    Mirror's Edge
    • No sound during cut-scenes
    • NVidia Physx Engine support is available, but bogs down the framerates big time in heavy firefights. This could be because I have a Radeon graphics card though.
    • With Phys-X turned off, framerates do not get bogged down. This is more of a graphics card limitation if you don't have a recent NVidia graphics chipset.

Try runningin compatibility mode and turning on admin rights in properties.Or you should try updating your viddeo/sound card.

Do you have Civ4 on Steam? Civ4 (and expansions) run fine for me through Steam on W7 RC 64-bit.

I think everything I've played on W7 so far works fine. I'll be sure to post back though if something comes up.

Your framerates are low in Physx because it is running in software. You need a Geforce 8000 series or higher to run at Physx hardware mode, software mode is very slow.

I upgraded straight from Vista Ultimate 32bit to Windows 7 RTM 32bit with little to no problems. I miss Windows Movie Maker, Crysis and GTA4 are running fine, GTA4 loads up much faster under 7 and Crysis seems a tad smoother. :)

I installed it natively, didn't hook it up with steam. That may be the difference.

I'm assuming you have it patched to the latest patch? AFAIK, Steam doesn't do anything else its games other than keep them fully updated.
