I just bought the Gateway P-7811 FX and it comes pre-installed with Vista Home Premium x64. I've always had a good experience with x64 bit operating systems so I want to switch the crappy vista with XP x64.

I put in the XP x64 pro disc in the drive, restarted the notebook and when I had it boot the cd, it went through the driver checks and then it came up with what looks to be a driver error screen(blue screen of death.) Does anybody know if its possible to get XP x64 on this laptop?

The looks like an AHCI error, did you disable it before trying to install?

Nope, I've never even heard of that before. I'll look around to figure out how to do that. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks!

Edit: That fixed the error I was getting. Thanks again! Hopefully I'll be able to find all the drivers I need for XP x64. Anybody have a recommendation for a site that has a lot of drivers for it? I'll keep looking around.
