This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     I believe this is a setting buried within XP and Vista which is enabled by default. You can turn it off using TweakXP, and I'm sure there are ways to find it without a utility as well.

    I do know that when I created my latest slipstreamed XP install, and went through the new settings in nLite, that was one of them.

    Download TweakUI from Microsoft. There's one version for XP. If they've released the one for Vista, it will be available separately.

    Great program, free, and gives you control over a number of things, including the annoying shortcut arrow.

    That's the one I was thinking of, sanpabloguy! :) I couldn't quite remember the name, though. It is a very nice arrangement of Windows settings to play around with. I'm all but sure they've released a Vista version at this point.
