My gf wants to try windows on her laptop, so it'll be for "academic use". I'd like to get my hands on a copy of 7 pro for her. I'm a computer science grad student. Besides MSDNAA, what're my options? (out MSDNAA admin seems non-existent :S)

That's pretty much your only option for a non-expiring copy. You can download the 90 day trial that Microsoft is offering though.

Wasn't there some ACM-related way? I remember reading about it but can't seem to find it.

There's signing up for IEEE or some other engineering organization, but you still end up getting 7 from MSDNAA.

Looks like they've pulled the Win7Pro English versions from MSDN-AA via IEEE.

you can still get the key for the non-english version and if you do have a copy of the english version of windows 7, use that key form the non-english to activate the english version :)
