I am getting a replacement hard drive from Dell because of a clicking noise. Now how do I copy (OS + Data) to the new hard drive so I don't need to install anything ? Any tool ?

Acronis True Image, or Norton Ghost will do the trick. Just make an image of your drive, then apply it to your new drive.

If you dont have Vista Ultimate, download a free copy of Acronis Disk Image and make a backup of your system.

If you have Ultimate, Complete PC Transfer and if you dont, just do an Easy Transfer of your critical files (look in backup)

I have Ultimate and Acronis both.

Will the replacement drive come with an OS installed ?

With acronis I don't need to install OS again right ?

I will do a complete pc backup with ultimate and acronis both. See whichever works for me and then restore.

Thanks flamenko and adinu (Rep +)
