I'm using 32 bit ffdshow to decode them, so it follows they wouldn't show up automatically - but they don't even show up when I am browsing files in a 32 bit application.
Any ideas?

Try Shark's007 codec pack. It should do the trick.

Hmm, The K-Lite Codec Pack only seems to show the odd flv video thumbnail , most are blank?

I don't doubt you can see .flv thumbnails on your PC. Your bloated, poorly optimized codec pack wouldn't fix the issue I'm having with mine.

Installed shark ones including the 64bits add, no change still no thumbs.

That's weird. Did you select "show thumbnails" in the options?
