Officially this is not supported. You have to do a clean install from Vista home to 7 Pro. What you can do is get 7 Home Upgrade and use the anytime upgrade to go from 7 Home to 7 Pro.

However google how to do a clean install with the 7 upgrade disk and it should work also.

If you don't mind doing a clean install thats the way to go I think.

Pretty sure clean install will be fine. Only the upgrade type will be affected if you try Home Premium > Pro.

You can use the 7 Pro upgrade to do a clean install. Once the upgrade disc sees that you have windows vista, then it will allow you to do a "custom" install that is another way of saying clean install.

I got the upgrade and went from vista home premium to 7 Pro clean install using this method.

i used a full install disk with a upgrade activation code because of that STUPID STUPID student deal giving install files that cant be run. i couldnt be bothered creating an iso, so i borrowed my housemates CD he had made from the ISO file on the MSDN site. worked fine.

if you download the windows 7 professional ISO from somewhere, but it to disk, and then use the upgrade code from wherever you got it from that should work fine. worked for me as described above. also worked for my girlfriends computer after she got jealous of my windows 7 :p

im running 64 bit, shes running 32 bit. i went from vista, she went from XP. both clean installs.

With the Ultimate edition, you can do an inplace upgrade on top of any version of Vista.
