OK, so now I’ve succeeded in achieving a dual boot (Vista Ultimate/XP Home), but I was not prepared for the wrath of God that was to follow. It seems that Vista’s device manager displayed about 10 conflicts, annoying but not a bad problem because they were all fixed via online services.

So now we come to XP. Its device manager also showed numerous conflicts, but I, in my ignorance presumed that I could handle this as easily as I did with Vista. Well, fellow geeks, every page of “Catch 22” was to be thrown at me. You see, I would have fixed this problem by acquiring the needed drivers online, except that SOME OF THE NEEDED DRIVERS WOULD BE REQUIRED TO DO THAT, and of course, I didn’t have them. I must have really pissed off God somehow because He even disabled my phone modem thereby limiting my XP toa narrow useful latitude. I even tried down loading some drivers via Vista, but after burning them to disk, I found that approach was also stymied by the heavenly hand.

If anyone has a remedy, please tell me ASAP. This straight jacket itches, and the rubber walls smell bad.

Its an HP Pavillion d9500z CTO with 2 gigs memory and a 160 mb HD. Unfortunately, I'll have to sign off for a while. It's dinner time here in Arizona, and we're going out with friends tonight, but I'll pop back when I return. Thanks for you interest. I sure hope you can help.

Download the XP drivers, copy them to the XP partition and install them, there is no need to burn them to a disc.... (and how was that approach stymied..??)

Yeah, just use Vista to download the XP drivers... then reboot to XP and install them. Each should be able to read the other's partition.
