    I am looking for a mid range DVD authoring program. I will use it mostly to create slide shows with music , but have a few homne videos to convert / Edit as well.

    I have Nero 6.6 but have not used it to create video. I have used Pinnacle 8.x ( easy interface / serious stability issues and loooooooooooooooooooong time to render to DVD) and do not want to spend the $$ for Adobe (around $700.000)

    Pinnacle has version 9.x (about $150.00) out which I hear is more stable and faster. Anyone got any other suggestions ? What are you using ? I need it to import mp3 audio (this is important) and the ability to cut the mp3 to fit a specific time line. I would also like th ability to mix full motion video with stills and adjust speed of video and nice fade outs .....hahah don't ask for much eh ?

    thx...............dy

    I haven't made many dvds, but what I have done I've done it with a combination of roxio dvd builder windows movie maker and sonic my dvd. Roxio gave me the best menu setup and windows movie maker produced the best slide show "in mpeg format.

    Sharp AL27, Athlon 64 2700+ 60Gb hdd, 512Mb mem, 64Mb vid, superbright lcd. DVD +-/RW. Great choice for business use.

    haha didnt see this thread or i would of responded earlier

    i use Nero Vision Express 3, not sure how much it costs now.

    you can make dvds from any video file you have, just need the codec, basically if you can play it you can encode it to DVD. its cool for the exception of RMVB files, doesn't work right for some reason.

    i have converted battlestar galactica movie + eps 10-13 to DVD and it works EXCELENT!, you can make menus, have video's for menu buttons and backgrounds. music. you can also auto create chapters or just add them manually, very very easy to use.

    -->Compal CL56 | Pentium M 1.6GHz Dothan | 1024MB Ram | Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB | 60GB HDD | 10/100 LAN | DVDRW |

    Yeah I used Nero to comile various other DVD's Seems resonaable and from personal experience it is the best burning / rendering product I have used. Anyhting I have created / converted from Nero has played on all my dvd players. Then again Nero is a burning product first and foremost.

    It lacks some editing features I would like such as trim music to fit slide show (can fit slide show to music but not the other way around). I really liked Pinnacle Studio 8 for editing other than then rendering took forever and some serious stability issues. I hear version 9 is better - might take that plunge.

    Looking now how to cut multiple home made DVD's to one DVD and maintain all the individual chapters with Nero - I converted 5 into one worked well , but all the chapters are gone - so rtfm and google for me.
