I've used both and don't have a problem with either, but I'm currently using the K-Lite Full codec pack.

I recommend K-lite, and CCCP pack as well but i don't use them. For my movies i just download specifics because they all use the same codecs. Not a time saver, but i'm far too lazy to download those packs.

I use ffdshow and I can play almost every video files that I encounter on Internet. You don't really need codec pack. Try to google it.

Thanks all. I downloaded the K-lite codec pack 3.50 (I actually thought it wasn't free) and everything works now (it includes ffdshow too but I have no idea what it is.)
