Tidbits:
- "We are close, but have not yet signed off on Windows 7," said company spokesman Brandon LeBlanc on the Windows blog Monday night. "As previously stated, we expect Windows 7 to RTM in the 2nd half of July."
- "There are many bogus copies of Windows 7 floating around the Internet. More often than not, they contain a rather nice malware payload."
- TechNet and MSDN subscribers, who in the past have gotten RTM builds almost immediately, will be able to download Windows 7 from their respective services "a few weeks after we announce RTM," LeBlanc said.
- "Note that 'in-place' (or direct) upgrades from the Windows 7 RC to RTM will not be supported," LeBlanc said. "You will be required to do a Custom installation (aka 'clean install').

Looks like we won't be getting Win 7 RTM for another month!
-
Yeah, Brandon LeBlanc said he's probably going to have any official 7 RTM news first on their blog here. It's the place to watch for RTM news I think.
-
Thanks. Sorry, looks like it is an article of that article.
-
I'm optimistic about:

Uhhh, not that I mind reading, but can you summarize the points from the 5000 word essay?
-
It originally stated that the RTM would be released today, they went back and edited it to say this month however.
-
Boo. That's disappointing, if true. We got Vista right away. I'll really be bummed if the Technet release is delayed too long. I was hoping to have it before then end of July.
-
I think there's still a good chance that we'll get it by the end of July. I came across another blog (that's two days old and can't seem to find it now) that said MSFT was striving to get it to TechNet by the end of July. I think there's still hope.
Worst case scenario though, if not July then it's most likely gonna be here first week of August. -
Good, because I'm on a schedule to roll out my Windows 7 + Home Server next month. LOL. It's my own schedule, but I'm anxious now.
-
Agreed. Vista was an albatross and we got it immediately. Now Microsoft finally produces something with a bit of polish and they want to delay getting it into peoples hands. Go figure.
-
Maybe Microsoft wants to reveal the RTM date and have some lead time to beef up their servers for the thousands and thousands of MSDN and Technet subscribers. Waiting several weeks for a download is a delay?
-
Microsoft made millions of copies available to the people who download the betas and RCs. Capacity planning is nothing new to MS and they did this with Vista immediately after it was RTM.
Good Info on Windows 7 RTM
