so im messing around with my multigesture touchpad on my X100e, and im totally digging the 2 finger scroll,3 finger flick and now im trying to see what i can do with the 3 finger press application launcher.

Right now I got it set to launch firefox, but I was going to start looking around for an application launcher that would pop up when I use the 3 finger press. I'm looking for one that disappears after I launch a program from it so its not in the way. I'm also hoping its easy to use with the touchpad.

To clarify,I want a program that comes only pops up when I use the 3 finger press, use the touchpad to select it and have it disappear after the program launches.

Are there any suggestions? I'm looking for freeware mainly, but if theres a paidv version thats pretty nice, I might look into it.

    Thank you

    Launchy.
Launchy: The Open Source Keystroke Launcher

It does everything you're asking for but I'm not sure if you can launch it with a three-finger press or not. I haven't used it in a while though, since I just use the default W7 launcher.

Keybreeze is way better than launchy IMO. Google keybreeze. There's keyboard shortcut to invoke the launcher, but I'm not sure whether you can set it to the three finger stroke or not.

Yeah, you can do the same with Launchy. Honestly I doubt one is a whole lot better than the other; we aren't talking about real advanced software here.

I found Circle Dock which seems to work pretty good. I had to some tweaking to get it to work though.

I set the dock to use Shift+F1 for the shortcut, then created a simple VB script to press those keys when ran, and the 3 finger press in the control panel is set to launch that script. Then just simply adding the Circle Dock to startup finished it up.

I only wish there was a way to move my clock and notification icons to that...

There's no need to create any vb scripts or any other script.

Go into the synaptics control pannel, set the startup program for 3 finger launch to your desired app launcher.

    tried that

it tries to reopen the app launcher which is already open, and since its already open but hidden,it flashes on the screen for a second and disappears

Heres a pic of my desktop for reference

I really liked this program, but I had to stop using it when I did a fresh install of 64 bit W7 and it was eating CPU like crazy, and it sucked, because I used my laptop for 3-4 weeks like that and couldnt figure out why my laptop (which is known for running warm anyway) was burning up even shortly after booting and had really low battery life. I though it was some kind of driver issue or something. But I opened up task manager and I saw it using up 50 some percent of the CPU on idle,so I decided to kill it. Now my laptop runs a lot cooler and has better battery life.

Back to using regular old desktop icons I guess...
