Any recommendations for software that will let me rip from a DVD and save the file onto my HDD? One that is relatively easy to use would also be ideal! Thanks in advance for any advice!

I like DVD decrypter. You can use it with an ISO mounter such as Daemon tools.

DVD Shrink, you can put the movie on your hard drive and just watch it from there. it can compress the DVD so say a movie is 8 GB, and you can put a setting to make it automatically compress so that you can burn it onto a 4GB disc if you want to burn it. but no there is no ISO mounter
really easy to use, takes about 30 min for my 1.66 T5500 and 80GB @ 5400rpm with 1gb ram to rip a 8GB movie at "do not run in low priority mode" -

DVD Shrink, has worked the best for me.

Are you planning on keeping and watching the movies on your laptop, as opposed to burning to DVD? If so, you may want to look at HandBrake. It'll rip and re-encode your DVDs to much smaller MPEG4 files.

Can anyone recommend a free burning software ?
